What it does
A client book for one pair of hands. The formula you mixed last time and how long it took, patch test dates with a warning when one runs out, before-and-after photos kept on the visit they belong to, and what she has spent since she started coming. Your day shows who is in the chair, who is next and the gap between them. The money side works out what is actually yours after the room, the products and the tax, and a pricing tool works backwards from what you want to take home to what a treatment has to cost. Is this the right tool?
This is for one pair of hands: a stylist renting a chair, a colourist with a book of regulars, a mobile hairdresser working out of a car. It keeps the things a salon system charges monthly for — formula history, patch test dates, before-and-after photos, what each client has spent — and leaves out the staff rotas and the till integration you do not have. If you employ four stylists and need shared shifts, this is the wrong size.
Your first week with it
The first month is not a migration. Add each client as she comes back through the door, and by the end of a cycle your regulars are all in with their real history rather than a list typed from memory. The part most people notice in week three is the money side: once the room, the products and the tax come off, the treatments you thought were your best earners often are not.

Does it replace my paper client cards?
That is what it was built to do. The formula you mixed, how long it processed, the patch test date and the before-and-after photos all sit on the visit they belong to, so the history is in one place instead of on a card that gets lost in a drawer.
Will it tell me when a patch test has run out?
Yes. Each client carries her patch test date and the book warns you before it expires, so the check happens while she is booking rather than while she is sitting in the chair.
Can I see what a client has spent with me?
Every visit carries its price, so each client shows a running total since her first appointment. It is the quickest way to see who your regulars actually are, rather than who feels like a regular.
Does it work out what I really earn on a treatment?
The money side takes the room, the products and the tax off the top, so you see what is yours rather than what went through the till. There is also a pricing tool that works backwards from the take-home you want to the price a treatment has to be.
Is my clients' information private?
The book is yours and nobody else signs into it. Client names, notes and photos are stored against your access, not published anywhere, and nothing is shared with a third party.
